hidden pleasure

We Write Poems asked us to write a poem that explains what the following quote means. I took a lighthearted approach. 

What if there were a hidden pleasure

in calling one thing

by another’s name?

on silly days

I name certain people

with fictional

and  fairytale names

inside my head.

so many are

the possibilities

for use of the

seven dwarves’ names--

sarcastic or sincere.

let’s not forget

Prince Charming

and Cruella DeVille

or most of all,

 angel of my heart.

these nicknames

get me through

tick-tock tricky times

as long as I don’t

use them aloud.
