The prompt this week over at Big Tent Poetry was to write a poem about being stuck somewhere (inspired by a "stranded at the airport" episode). I guess this prompt drifted into current events in my mind. What is one's existence in moments of desolation?
a place to be
stranded
at the airport
when the tsunami
hit.
it took his home
and his life there.
he has no place
to go.
stranded
at the airport --
he has a place
to be.

Ah poignant images...well rendered.
Truly a horrible situation but powerful piece.
The images are stuck in the mind!
lost in a maze
it reminds me of my own entry for the day.
reflective and wonder thoughts.
Here is My Entry, Thanks for reading!
nan, a powerful piece on a tragic situation. The title says it all.

I fear that your poem reflects an oft-repeated reality. Pardon me while I count my blessings.
Almost get the feeling that he's a ghost now.
Poignant. It renders me speechless.
Such a timely piece and full of the angst of the whole situation. Incredible sadness over the world. I'm glad you wrote this.
Nicely stated.
This poem made me well up, as the images on news programmes keep doing. Your last line is the thread of hope.
We had friends stranded for days in the Tokyo airport. You've created a picture of what it was like for them...
This makes me think of the fact that there are many worse things than to be stranded at an airport. Wow!
